So. You’re a princess?
Yup.
Okay. So how long have you been writing?
Hmmmm…I probably learned how to spell my name when I was four, maybe? I don’t remember. It was a long time ago.
You seem to be a bit of smart alec.
No. Not really. I’m very nice, but when I can pretend to be a smarty pants – I take advantage of the opportunity.
Just to prove what a nice person (princess) I am – I’ll answer the question. I never knew writing was hard until someone told me. At the same time, I didn’t realize that I was particularly good at it either until someone told me. Obviously I am the master of the obvious. Or not. By the way – sometimes my writing isn’t very good. There, I said it. Writing is a skill that you never fully master in my opinion. You can improve by leaps and bounds, but only through lots of practice and a willingness to admit that you still have room for improvement.
I’ve always had a vivid imagination and finally put pen to paper (or more like fingers to keyboard). I daydream a lot, which is a good trait of a writer. But I also procrastinate too. Not surprisingly, a common trait for many writers, although not necessarily a good one to cultivate. Cursed is my first attempt at living my passion – to create memorable characters and stories that provide entertainment and joy to millions. (They teach you at princess school to think big!)
How do you come with your ideas?
Magic.
Okay, it’s probably not only magic. Sometimes I read, hear or see something that spurs an idea. Sometimes I read, hear or see something that I don’t like and think about how I would do it differently. Eventually it evolves into something uniquely its own and most importantly – makes me excited. If I’m not excited by the story – why would anyone else be?
Then it boils down to magic. Seriously.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
Well, first and foremost I am a mom to my cat, Emeril. He is the most handsome cat in the whole wide world. He is also the most constipated cat in the whole wide world. Sad, but true. I guess I’ve never checked whether that is an official category, but if it is – I’m pretty sure he’d win. So I spend a great deal of time catering to his every whim.
I also blog. My main blog is Eat Laugh Purr. Emeril and I launched Eat Laugh Purr in September 2010. The blog is a mixture of personal posts from Emeril and me with some favorite recipes as well. I like to cook and enjoy trying new recipes.
Graphic design is also a passion of mine, and I am fortunate enough to be able to share my skills with others. I offer services for web design, print materials, copywriting and marketing consulting. You can learn more about these services at www.sasspurrella.com. And yes. I like cats.
Will we see Jolie and Franck again?
I certainly hope so! My plan is to have a series of Jolie and Franck adventures, and I’m already working on the second book.
So…about being a princess….
I’m a princess in TanyaLand. Home to one constipated cat (although currently not at this moment) and myself. I never said it was a large kingdom!
